What to Expect

Making the commitment to begin treatment for a substance use disorder is a huge, life-changing decision.

Even though it is the right decision, it’s still normal to feel uncertain. You are entering a new chapter, and you’ll have to go through the ups and downs of life without your crutch – drugs and alcohol.

To help make this transition easier, we feel it’s important for our clients to know what to expect during their time with us. Fortunately, you can expect a beautiful and luxurious facility that’s located just blocks from the beach. We have all the tools you need under one roof to succeed in your recovery.

What Happens When You Check Into Surfside Recovery

Once you arrive at our beachside facility, our admissions staff provides several assessments and health screenings to establish your mental and physical health. These assessments allow our team to get a better understanding of your current state, the level of drugs and alcohol in your system and the presence of underlying medical conditions.

This information is then used to create a personalized treatment plan, which typically starts with detox. Detox is the process of eliminating drugs, alcohol and toxins from the body. It typically lasts 10 days or less, though this depends on the drugs you are addicted to, how long you’ve been using and your overall physical state.

Detox is often a dreaded part of recovery, but Surfside Recovery makes it as tolerable as possible. We use a combination of therapy and medications, while also providing around-the-clock monitoring. When your body returns to a balanced state, we can move you into therapy.

The rest of your time at our facility will be spent working on your recovery. You’ll meet with a licensed therapist, participate in group therapy and learn essential life skills and coping tools. You’ll also have access to a wide range of holistic therapies like art therapy, music therapy, guided meditation and yoga. Most clients stay at our facility for 30-45 days.

Become Part of Our Alumni Program After Graduation

When you graduate from our residential treatment program, you become part of our Alumni community. We want our clients to know that their journey is not over, and that we will continue to be a source of support for them.

As part of our Alumni program, we’ll be happy to connect you to resources in your community, such as therapists and 12-step groups. You can also stay in contact with the other members, and be able to spend time with them in the real world. These connections can be incredibly powerful as you recover from your addiction and pursue new hobbies and friends.
